Panasonic TH-42PX600U

Released in 2006 as the flagship 720p display in Panasonic's line, the TH-42PX600U features a 1024×768 PDP with a claimed 10,000:1 contrast ratio, and fast motion response. Positioned above the step-down PX60U, this higher-tier model incorporates premium chassis additions including an upgraded audio array with SRS TruSurround XT, an SD card reader for JPEG playback, CableCARD support, Picture-in-Picture (PIP), front-panel hidden A/V inputs, and twin HDMI ports. Designed during the height of the high-definition transition, it combines robust mid-2000s Viera build quality with standard-setting off-axis performance and Plasma motion clarity.
